Members Only Social Club.
The Goring Social Club was opened in November 1888 and was known up to the early nineteen sixties as Goring Working Men’s Club. Since then, the Club membership has diversified considerably and the Club can now claim to be a genuine community-based club with a membership drawn from all segments of the local community. Its main objective is to provide a central meeting point and a relaxing environment for its members and guests. The club is for everyone in the local area and is situated in the High Street in the heart of the village.
The management of the Club is controlled by the management committee consisting of nine elected committee members, one of whom currently acts as Club secretary, the president, vice president and treasurer. The committee meets regularly once a month to manage the club’s affairs and is currently looking at ways of improving the interior of the club to enhance and improve the facilities for the membership which is currently in excess of 500. The club is affiliated to the Club & Institute Union which allows members, for a small joining fee and yearly subscription, to visit other affiliated clubs in the United Kingdom. This also allows affiliated members from other clubs to visit the Goring Social Club when visiting this area.
