Goring Gap News
Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2004
First published in January 1988, the Goring Gap News is a well-established 40-page monthly publication which has become an integral part of village life. Delivered free to all houses in Goring and Streatley, it carries news, views and articles covering a wide range of activities and subjects relevant to the Goring Gap area, and for visitors it is a useful source of information about village events and the services of local shops and other businesses.
An annual Local Directory is published in November which gives full details of emergency and other services, lists local clubs, associations and other organisations with contact names and numbers, and provides details of members of Parliament and Local Councillors.
For non-residents, copies of Goring Gap News are available for purchase at local newsagents, and it is also available on subscription through the post.
The magazine is a not-for-profit publication, produced and distributed by a team of volunteers. Printing and other costs are offset by paid local advertising, and any surplus is used for the benefit of the village communities in the form of special grants.
