Standard Conditions of Hire

Introduction

The Trustees of the Goring and District Community Centre lease the premises from Oxfordshire County Council.  The premises, defined in the lease with the County, are the School, the School House and the garden immediately to the rear of the House.  Other areas are excluded from the lease but parking by those using the Centre is allowed on the area immediately to the rear of the premises.

Conditions

1 Use

The premises shall be used by the hirer for lawful purposes.

2 Sub-letting

The hirer shall not sub-let the premises or any part thereof.

3 Supervision

The hirer shall during the period of hire be responsible for the supervision of the building and its contents, the behaviour of persons using the premises, and the parking of cars to avoid obstruction of the highway and rights of access to other users of the areas used for parking.

4 Car Parking

 The area immediately to the rear of the building may be used for car parking for the period of hire and for no other purpose.  Cars are parked at the owners’ risk.

5 Emergency Exits and Fire Safety (Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005)

The hirer, or a nominee shall be the responsible person for the period of use, shall be present during the event and be fully acquainted with the Fire Safety notice displayed in the entrance lobby and in the rooms in use.  The responsible person shall ensure that the emergency exits are kept clear and be acquainted with the location and operation of the fire-fighting appliances.

6 Cleanliness

The hirer shall at the end of the period of hire ensure that any articles or equipment brought to the premises are removed and that the premises are left clean, free of litter and secure with lights and heating switched off.

7 Damage

The hirer shall meet the costs of any repairs that arise from damage to the premises or its contents caused during the period of hire.  The Executive Committee of the Community has arranged that the hirer is covered for Public Liability risks but other risks shall be covered by the hirer.

8 Licences

The hirer shall be responsible for obtaining any licences required for the sale and consumption of alcohol and the playing of music on the premises.

9 Non-availability of the Premises

If for reasons outside the control of the Executive Committee of the Community Centre the premises are not capable of use during the period of hire the Committee will repay any deposit made in advance but shall be under no further liability.

10 Loss of Property

No liability shall accrue to the Executive Committee of the Community Centre for any property inadvertently left on the premises.

11 Capacity of the Premises

The Hirer shall ensure that not more than 100 persons are on the premises at any time during the period of hire unless ,in special circumstances, a higher figure has been agreed in advance.

12 Use of Electrical Appliances

No appliance of more than 3 kW rating shall be connected to the electrical installation and all appliances must be connected to the socket outlets provided.

13 Right of Entry

The Executive Committee reserves the right to enter the premises without prior notice at any time during the period of hire.
